Life Among Them

AMC has released the first photo of actor Andrew Lincoln as small town Kentucky police officer Rick Grimes in their soon-to-be dramatic series of The Walking Dead, which as an avid reader of the comic book I am more excited about than anything else coming up television-wise in a long while. Which is saying something.

The series is harrowing, and more than a little depressing, and at times I can barely read certain scenes over again after the first time around. But given the unrealistic scenario of a small band of people living and surviving in a nation overrun with flesh-eating zombies they have handled the material in a way that can only be as realistic as one can go with considering the circumstances. And here's to hoping that AMC follows suit, with The Mist and Shawshank Redemption director Frank Darabont behind the camera, and writer and producer of The Shield Charles H. Eglee as well. I guess we'll wait and see.
